MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- LGBTQ equality is in the spotlight in the City of Milwaukee.
Thursday morning Mayor Tom Barrett addressed the city's inclusiveness to members of this community.
The Human Rights Campaign is launching its 2018 municipal equality index, highlighting the historic progress being made across 506 cities including Milwaukee.
The factors measured in the survey include non-discrimination laws, employment practices, and the inclusiveness of law enforcement.
Mayor Barrett says this is an important milestone, "The number of organizations, the number of individuals and there are so many I can’t name them all, who make this an inclusive city who understands we are all people who want to love and who want to be loved."
HRC says Milwaukee was chosen as the city for the launch because of its newly earned score of 100 despite being located in a state without fully-inclusive non-discrimination protections.
