MILTON, Wis. (CBS 58) - Residents across southeastern Wisconsin are cleaning up after EF-0 tornadoes touched down in Rock County and Jefferson County on Sunday.

Branches, twigs, and leaves line the streets of Milton, but there's one thing stopping people in their tracks.

“Big, old trees," said Rachel Garcia. “There’s just lines of cars parked along here, just one by one trying to see the damage.”

She got the call late last night.

"My neighbors called and said, 'you gotta come home. I don’t know if it hit your house.' I said, 'what?' They’re like, 'a tornado went through,' and I’m like, 'what? In Milton?'"

The EF-0 ripped through Rock County at 80 mph. It uprooted Garcia's tree from the ground and just barely missed her home.

"It's a pretty good sign that whatever happened did come through here," said Tim Halbach with the Milwaukee National Weather Service. “Getting right to that peak time of the season for this.”

Now, the morning after the damage, Milton is hard at work.

"Taking all the branches that were knocked out in this whole area," said Ryan Ooms, a Janesville resident who came to Milton to help.

As the National Weather Service records the aftermath, residents are cleaning up.

“Milton is a very close-knit community. You know wherever people need help and someone else will jump in," said Ooms.

It's a small town that's got a big job ahead. Community members say it’ll take several days to clean up this damage, but thankfully, no one was hurt.

“Someone is looking out for me," said Garcia.
