Community Creatives event brings local makers, shoppers together in Mequon

MEQUON, Wis. (CBS 58) — Local creators had a chance to showcase their work and connect directly with shoppers Saturday during Outpost Natural Foods Cooperative's Community Creatives event in Mequon.

The event brought together a variety of local makers offering everything from handmade jewelry and candles to books, homemade treats and gluten-free products.

Organizers say the goal is to give shoppers an opportunity to discover new products while meeting the people who make them.

"It gives them a platform to talk directly with the people who are going to be buying their products," said Margaret Mittelstadt of Outpost Natural Foods Cooperative. "That's the best way, we think, is for people to really get to know the makers behind the product."

The event was held at Outpost's Mequon location.

Organizers say additional Community Creatives events are planned for February and May next year.
