MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- It’s the end of an era for a hometown brewery.
After nine years of service, Company Brewing closed its doors effective immediately, Tuesday, May 28.
People in the neighborhood said the patio was always packed, the beer was always flowing, and the closure caught everyone by surprise.
"I'm surprised, they seemed to always be busy and always keep people coming back " said Abigail Molitor, a person who frequented Company Brewing.
The closure came with no warning or notice for local rapper and producer Adebisi Agoro.
"We had an event planned for June 23, Sunday, June 23," said Agoro.
Customers of the brewery were made aware of the closure through a social media post.
"I saw the Facebook post that Company Brewing was closing indefinitely," said Agoro.
Agoro, a regular performer at Company Brewing said, for nearly a decade the beloved brewery has given him a chance to shine.
"That space has provided me with so much - so much stage experience, so much organizing experience, it been an institution for me," said Agoro.
Despite the rapper's event being canceled, he said he stands by the owner's choice to shut off the taps.
