Complaint: Milwaukee father threw baby against wall after getting frustrated playing video games
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 20-year-old Milwaukee father is accused of intentionally throwing his son against a wall after getting upset over a video game.
Jalin White has been charged with one count of physical abuse of a child and neglecting a child.
Authorities say the 9-month-old child is not expected to survive.
According to a criminal complaint, on Nov. 5, White had been caring for his son while the child's mother left their residence to go pick up some marijuana.
When the child's mother returned to the home, investigators say she noticed something was not right with her son. According to the complaint, one of the baby's arms was twitching and did not appear well, his hands were turning different colors, and one of his eyes was completely swollen shut.
The baby's mother subsequently called 911.
The child was rushed to Children's Wisconsin, where a CT scan revealed he had a large skull fracture.
The complaint says, White had no explanation for how the child sustained a skull fracture or traumatic brain injury.
Initially, White claimed the child's injuries were the result of the baby's mother bumping his head on a door frame, but then said the child fell from an air mattress to the carpeted floor while changing his diaper.
According to the complaint, White changed his story again claiming he dropped the child while he was standing playing video games.
Finally, investigators say White admitted he threw his son against the wall and onto the bed because he was frustrated he was down two points in the fourth quarter of his video game.
White's bond has been set at $100,000. He's due in court for a preliminary hearing on Nov. 15.
