MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- What was supposed to be a celebration turned into a night of terror, when four women were shot inside a home the morning of Sept. 29.

Now the community needs help finding out who did it.

People were at a birthday party at a house near 29th and Cherry Street when a group of people started shooting at the home. The bullets went through the house and hit four people.

Despite the fact that police found 15 rifle casings at the scene, the women weren't badly hurt.

But police say this crime could have been much worse.

"When you take into account you're talking about an urban environment, firearm is enough, but when you're talking about a rifle and the velocity and distance that a rifle round could go, it is extremely lucky and fortunate that no one else was hit - no other residents was hit, because we have seen that play out in our community far too often," said Captain Craig Sarnow.

Police say nobody knows why they shot up the house, but they're hoping to find out with the community's help.

If you know anything about the crime, call 414-224-TIPS or 414-224-8477. Your call and the information you give is anonymous.

If your tip leads to an arrest, you could get up to $1,000 in a cash reward.
