Customers find worms inside drinks at a Kenosha County McDonald's

KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A trip through the drive-thru became a health hazard in Kenosha County. Customers say they found worms inside their drinks at a Paddock Lake McDonald's.

A health report that CBS 58 obtained reveals that employees at the McDonalds knew about the worms before they started appearing inside the cups.

“A numbing feeling, very violating,” said Joe Hauenstein.

Every morning, Hauenstein makes a trip through this McDonald's drive thru.

“I usually go there and get a sweet tea in the morning, every single morning,” he said.

On Sunday, Hauenstein found something else in his iced tea.

“Took a sip of it and a worm came through my straw,” said Hauenstein. “I spit it out in my hand, and I didn’t know what to say. I was just thinking about how many people bring their kids there.”

A health inspection report we obtained reveals workers noticed the worms throughout the weekend.

The report states “tiles under the drive thru soda/ice machine are severely damaged.” The report goes on to say management noticed some worms “coming out of the sewage receptacle.”

That drive thru soda and ice machine will remain out of service until a second health inspection next Monday.

“Yeah, it’s disgusting. They're not following proper protocol,” said Hauenstein.

CBS 58 reached out to the Kenosha County Health Department for comment but did not hear back. We also reached out to McDonald's Corporate but did not hear back.

In the meantime, Hauenstein says he’ll keep drinking his iced tea, just not from McDonald’s.

“Creeped out, disgusted. I will never eat at McDonald's again. ever. and I was a very, very good customer,” said Hauenstein.
