Slightly warmer temperatures arrive before the light snow Wednesday
The dangerous cold continues in southeast Wisconsin. Lows temperatures without wind chills dropped into the teens below-zero in many locations. It was the coldest morning in most spots since January, 2019 - almost six years ago!
When factoring in the wind, feels like temperatures felt like the -20s and -30s. Those wind chills slowly rise throughout the day into the negative teens to around -20. Here's a look at wind chills that will update with time:
An extreme cold warning remains in effect until noon Tuesday for the possibility of wind chills around -30 or -35. That extreme cold warning could be replaced by a cold weather advisory for Tuesday afternoon and evening through Wednesday morning.
High temperatures Tuesday will struggle to get much past zero degrees with afternoon highs in the low single digits. The good news is the temperatures don't really cool much Tuesday night with lows staying in the low single digits and wind chills staying in the teens below-zero to around -20.
Part of the reason we don't cool much Tuesday night is the return of clouds along with a chance for snow. Light snow showers are possible off and on for most of Wednesday. The snow could make roads a bit slick for the morning, midday and evening commute.
With all the cold air, this snow will easily accumulate. Snow totals by the end of Wednesday look to be around an inch in most communities with some a little less and others a bit more.
