WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Darrell Brooks was in and out of Waukesha County court Friday afternoon, Nov. 18.
The court was set to take up the defendant's motion to stay the sentencing pending appeal, but instead, the hearing adjourned early because paperwork was misplaced.
Brooks wrote his motion on a blank piece of paper during the sentencing hearing.
The court made copies for all of the parties but misplaced theirs.
The hearing will be rescheduled after their hard copy is found.
Judge Jennifer Dorow says she will not let this interruption delay his transportation to the Dodge Correctional Institution.
"It's a motion that can be addressed with you appearing by video," Judge Dorow said. "It's a procedural motion, and obviously if I were to grant any of the relief that you seek, that might change where you're being housed, but that's a little speculative at this point in time."
Brooks appeared in court in an anti-suicide vest.
He says the jail placed him on a suicide watch protocol despite not being suicidal.
