Dashcam, bodycam video released in officer-involved shooting near 51st and Hampton

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Police Department released video of an officer-involved shooting that took place near 51st and Hampton on Dec. 7. 

The community briefing video, according to police, was created to promote transparency and accountability with the public and to provide relevant information about critical incidents.

Police said the incident started with a police pursuit involving a Honda CRV that was wanted in connection with a shooting that happened earlier. 

The chase, spanning over three miles, reportedly ended with the CRV crashing near N. 51st Blvd. and two suspects fled on foot.

Dashcam and body camera footage captured the incident. The video shows the pursuit and the suspects fleeing the vehicle after crashing -- and you can see one suspect holding a gun. 

Officials said a firearm was recovered in "close proximity" to the scene of the crash.

The officers involved remain on administrative duty pending the outcome of the investigation.
