Def Leppard, James Taylor, Jason Mraz connect with patients at Summerfest

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Aurora Health Care coordinated backstage artist visits for select patients during the opening week of Summerfest, connecting individuals undergoing medical treatment with nationally touring musicians.

Def Leppard met with a man from Elkhorn on Thursday, June 19. Chris Elvin, who lives with cerebral palsy, cited the band’s music as a personal outlet since he was a teenager, even though he had never previously seen them live in-person.

Singer-songwriters James Taylor and Jason Mraz were introduced to Steven Fanizza rom Lindenhurst, Ill., currently receiving prostate cancer care through Advocate Condell Medical Center, on Saturday, June 21. Fanizza has lost a brother to the disease and is currently being treated along with his other brother.

Aurora says they aim to continue facilitating simi9lar meetings between artists and patients throughout the duration of Summerfest.
