MILWAUKEE, Wis. (CBS 58) – One defendant with a case under Judge Hannah Dugan has questions about the direction and future of her case after the judge was arrested.

Dugan was arrested by the FBI on Friday, April 25 and is accused of obstructing federal immigration agents.

“I was shocked. My mouth hit the floor,” said Latasha Tharp, when she found out about Dugan’s arrest. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, what’s going to happen now?’”

Tharp is currently charged with a misdemeanor and her case was being handled in Dugan’s court. Tharp said she was confident in Dugan to handle the case properly and make sure justice was appropriately served, if necessary.

“I was hoping that she’d be able to relate and look at things fairly,” Tharp said.

Tharp said she was hoping to have her ankle monitor removed during a hearing that was scheduled for Monday. When she showed up, the doors were locked, and she learned her hearing was rescheduled.

I didn't get any notice or anything,” Tharp said.

She hopes in the coming weeks, when her case goes before a new judge, they will handle her case effectively. However, she remains nervous that this will make a long battle in the legal system even longer than expected.

“Is this going to prolong things even more, now that I’m going to a new judge?” Tharp said.
