'Do the right thing': Family urges 19-year-old accused of shooting father more than 30 times to turn himself in
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The search continues for D'Juan Eskridge, a 19-year-old accused of shooting his own father -- William Eskridge -- 31 times on Oct. 9. A family member is pleading for Eskridge to turn himself in.
According to a criminal complaint, police responded to a shooting near 7th and Melvina on Oct. 9. When investigators arrived, they found 15 shell casings near Eskridge's body. An autopsy revealed he was shot 31 times.
The criminal complaint states, the grandmother of the 19-year-old claimed the father and son were fighting before the teen took out a gun and started shooting.
Rosalind Jackson, the aunt of the victim, said the 19-year-old was upset with his grandmother for kicking him out of the house. Jackson said the young Eskridge threatened to get violent with his grandmother. Willaim Eskridge then stepped in.
"I believe William stepped in front saying, 'Ain't nobody gonna do nothing to my mother,'" said Jackson.
The 19-year-old hasn't been seen since. He is facing a charge of first-degree reckless homicide.
Jackson asked Eskridge to turn himself in.
"I just want you to do the right thing. Turn yourself in. We deserve justice, we deserve that," said Jackson.
