Doc Rivers weighs in on Giannis trade rumors on Bill Simmons podcast

CBS 58

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Giannis trade rumors are neverending, but now a new voice has chimed in -- his former coach, Doc Rivers.

Rivers was on the most recent Bill Simmons podcast, and he had quite a bit to say.

He called Giannis "fully healthy" and rejuvenated next season since there is no European basketball for Giannis this summer. The two most likely destinations for Giannis, if you believe the rumors, are Miami and Boston.

"And you would have traded your closer," Rivers said. "Because Tyler Herro is a closer. Say what you want about him, but Tyler Herro is a straight up closer."

"So why would I want to go laterally?" Simmons asked. "I would just stay in Milwaukee at that point."

"My guess is that's where he is trusting the front office to add more pieces," Rivers said.

Bucks fans, with all due respect to native Tyler Herro, took issue with some of what Rivers had to say. They're not happy with the Bucks' performance during his tenure and are dubious of Rivers' talent evaluation.

We're all still on Giannis watch. Co-owner Jimmy Haslam set an artificial deadline of the NBA Draft for this to all get figured out.
