DODGE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) — The Dodge County Sheriff's Office is reminding drivers that "road closed" signs mean exactly that after a vehicle ended up stuck in freshly poured concrete.

"We recently responded to a vehicle that drove around road closed barricades and ended up stuck in freshly poured concrete," the sheriff's office said in a social media post. "Yes, actual fresh concrete."

The sheriff's office said road closures are put in place for a reason, including construction, unsafe road conditions and other hazards.

Officials warned that ignoring road closed signs or barricades can damage vehicles, put construction workers at risk, lead to costly repairs and create additional hazards for other drivers.

In this case, the driver was cited for failure to obey a sign, which can result in a $175 fine and three points against a driver's license.

"When you see a road closed, do yourself and your vehicle a favor: turn around and find another route," the sheriff's office said. "The detour might be inconvenient, but it's a lot easier than explaining why your car is now part of the road."
