Rain chances lately have been very few and far between. A few weeks ago we had a nice soaking rain but since then not much. If you look at the last 50 days we've only had rain on 9 of them and most of those are just a few hundredths of an inch!
Even with the soaking rain from earlier in June the month is sitting at a deficit of nearly 2" going into its last week. The concerning part is the consistent lack of rainfall over the last few months. Since April 1 we've only had 4.22" of rain which is 6.27" below-average. Overall, the entire year is 1.60" below average on rainfall.
For a few weeks now most of southeast Wisconsin has been under a moderate drought. There's been no changes to the drought status in southeast Wisconsin but counties west of Madison have now been put in a severe drought.
Thankfully there is a pretty good rain chance out there and it doesn't arrive during Summerfest. Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms are looking possible for Sunday with some lingering rain on Monday.
