Hello July! We are officially half way through the year 2023. Crazy! June was a bit of a crazy month when it came to our weather. Lots of temperature swings and hardly any severe weather during a month that sees the peak of our tornado season (on average). When you crunch the numbers June was just a touch below average when it comes to temps. The hottest day of the month happened on the last day of the month when we got to 90* for the first time this year. The coldest day was in the middle of the month and the average monthly temp of 67.4* comes 0.2* below average.
We talked a lot during June about our lack of rainfall. We saw moderate drought overtake almost the entire state and now severe drought conditions are rolling in. June officially saw 1.82" of rainfall in Milwaukee which is almost 2.50" below-average during a month that is typically our wettest on average.
Now we role into July. The new month isn't our wettest on average but it is our hottest, even a little hotter than August. The average highs and lows only warm a degree or two and we see just under 3.50" of rainfall during the month.
