"This is called Kahk with powdered sugar," said Shirin Kestin. "The Kahk dates back to ancient Egyptians. It’s also soft and buttery as well, and it’s covered with white powdered sugar and that’s my absolute favorite."

For Kestin, those recipes came from her grandma, teta.

"My teta shared this food and it goes down to me, and it’s going to go down to my kids and my kids' kids and their kids' kids and sharing it with other people who are not Egyptian just makes me proud," she said.

The sale takes place Saturday, Dec. 13 and Sunday, Dec. 14. And it's grown to offer way more than cookies, like the popular comfort food, bechamel.

All of the food is available to order ahead of time and pick up at the sale. Or you can stop in and make a day out of it while shopping at the bazaar for presents.
