MILWAUKEE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- It's been nearly six months since Milwaukee County was hit with devastating flooding, damaging homes, businesses and parks.

One local little league team is still feeling the impact, worried their season could be off to a rough start.

"Everything is gone, so we are basically starting over from scratch," said James Zacher, the president of the Greenfield-New Berlin Little League.

When Zacher looks out at the snowy fields, he can't help but see how much work is left to be done.

"We don’t have any equipment, everything is gone," said Zacher. "We are starting, like I said, from scratch. We are not picky. We are taking anything we can to make sure we are still up and running."

In August, Kulwicki Park was hit hard with flooding, destroying all of the team's field equipment, concession stand appliances and pitching mounds.

"We lost everything," said Zacher. "Every piece of equipment we had in there -- freezers, fridges, our grill, anything that you have for concessions, our soda coolers, gone. It was a total loss."

Zacher says to fundraise, they rely on their concession stand, and with it out of commission, they are losing their main source of income.

"I mean, that’s pretty much our only fundraiser that we have throughout the year," said Zacher. "That’s our only source of income. The fees we charge our players, that all goes back out to the fields."

Zacher says they are expecting to have more than 200 players from ages 3 to 14 on the field.

He says while they are still out of thousands of dollars' worth of equipment, they are determined to do everything they can to get back on the diamond.

"I mean, this is our 45th season, it’s a huge milestone for us," said Zacher. "A big hurdle, but we're not looking back and we are going forward. Whatever means necessary, we are going to make this season happen for anyone who's involved."

There is a GoFundMe to help support the team here.
