Exotic pet surrender event set for Havenwoods State Forest Park

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- J&R Aquatic Animal Rescue will host a free exotic pet surrender event on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Havenwoods State Forest Park in Milwaukee. The event runs from noon to 3 p.m. at 6141 N. Hopkins St.
The event aims to offer owners a safe, no-questions-asked way to give up exotic pets they cannot keep, according to organizers.
Accepted animals include fish, invertebrates, reptiles, pet birds, small mammals and non-native plants. Domestic pets, farm animals and wild native animals will not be accepted.
Birds, reptiles and mammals from outside Wisconsin must have a Certificate of Veterinary Inspection. Attendees can also see rescued animals and take part in an educational photo booth.
All surrendered pets will be quarantined before becoming available for adoption.
