MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office released new details into two people found dead in a Milwaukee lake on Thursday, Dec. 8.

The family identified the victims as 25-year-old Khaliah Brister and 7-year-old Tyrielle Jefferson. They were found inside a car submerged in Northridge Lake just after 12:30 p.m. Both were declared dead at the scene.

Police say they're investigating what led up to the incident.

The Milwaukee County Sheriff's Office shared a timeline about their disappearance. They say the sheriff's office received a call Wednesday about a person threatening to drive a vehicle into Bradford Beach with her daughter inside.

The call was then canceled because the person had left the scene.

A sheriff's deputy searched the area anyways but could not find them.

The woman's mother called the sheriff's office again the next morning, saying she was concerned because she hadn't heard from her daughter.

The two were found dead later that day.

"Thirty-eight percent who are considering suicide and talk about it actually complete suicide," said Donetta Walker, with Divine Wellness & Counseling.

Divine Wellness & Counseling is one place people can turn to for help.

"Sometimes the holidays can be hard and they can be hard for anyone. So if you see a loved one or family member struggling, the best thing to do at this time is just be there for them," said Walker.

Here are some warning signs to watch for.

"They're not answering calls anymore. They're not coming around loved ones anymore. They're saying that they're sad and they're saying that they're just better off not being here anymore. I just want to sleep and never get up again. Those kinds of things are some signs that you can look out for," Walker said.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call 9-8-8.
