FBI releases age-progressed photos of man wanted in 1970 UW Sterling Hall bombing

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The FBI Milwaukee Field Office released Thursday, Aug. 31 age-progressed photographs of a man wanted for allegedly participating in the bombing of the University of Wisconsin's Sterling Hall in August of 1970.

The explosion killed a 33-year-old researcher and four other people were severely hurt.

In September of 1970, four men were charged in the bombing, which was a protest to the war in Vietnam. Three of the four men were later arrested and convicted but the fourth man, Leo Frederick Burt, remains wanted by the FBI.

At the time, the Sterling Hall bombing was the largest act of terrorism in the U.S. prior to Oklahoma City in 1995.

During the 53rd anniversary of the bombing, the FBI released new images created using age-progression technology and an original photo of Leo Frederick Burt.

The FBI is offering a $150,000 for information leading to the arrest of Leo Frederick Burt.

If you have any information concerning this case, you're urged to contact the FBI's Milwaukee Field Office at 414-276-4684, or you can submit a tip online at tips.fbi.gov, which can remain anonymous.
