Feast or famine rainfall this warm season as a dry July continues

It's been very on and off for rainfall this season across the area. Take a look at monthly rainfall over the past few months: 

July is still running second driest on record to date. Records go back just over 150 years. Sadly, there isn't much rain in the forecast over the next week. While there are chances here and there it will be conditional and widespread soaking rainfall does not look likely. While we see a dome of high pressure build in over the weekend and early next week, it's possible we could see some storms build on the edge under the heat and humidity. Fingers crossed we can get some downpours, as the rest of the month doesn't look like it sees much rain on models as of now.
