MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — The Midwest's largest Selena festival is underway in Milwaukee after weather forced organizers to postpone the event last weekend.
Fiesta Selena celebrates the life and legacy of Selena Quintanilla, the Texas-born singer whose music and influence continue to resonate with fans decades after her death.
The event highlights Selena's music, fashion and cultural impact while also showcasing artists and businesses from southeastern Wisconsin.
Organizers say the festival includes live music, food, vendors, a Selena look-alike contest and interactive cultural art experiences.
"I mean, if you think about it, she didn't have to speak English to get recognition in the English-speaking world," Fiesta Selena organizer Magaly Vaquera said. "So I think that says a lot about her talent and her charisma to win everyone's hearts."
The festival was originally scheduled for last Sunday but was postponed because of rain.
Fiesta Selena continues until 7 p.m. Sunday at The Farmhouse Paint and Sip on South Sixth Street in Milwaukee.
