Fire destroys home in Racine County

CBS 58

RACINE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Firefighters were out in the cold battling a house fire on Thursday, Dec. 12 in Racine County.

It happened around 10:30 a.m. off Highway 38 in Caledonia.

According to the Caledonia Fire Department, the house is located in an area that doesn't have active fire hydrants. That, along with the bitter cold, made it hard to get the fire under control.

The house is considered a total loss.

Embers from the home also started a marsh fire behind the property, which burned around 2-3 acres.

The fire department says no one was injured.
