Firefighters respond to early morning blaze near 9th and Burleigh

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee Fire Department crews responded to a house fire near 9th and Burleigh early Monday, March 24.
Firefighters tell CBS 58 that they arrived shortly after 5:52 a.m. and found a 2.5-story home with fire in the basement. A full assignment of four engines, two trucks, one medical unit, three chiefs and a rescue company were deployed.
Crews laid lines into the building and brought the fire under control. No injuries were reported.
Initial reports indicated an occupant may have been inside. Crews conducted multiple searches but have not located anyone.
MFD says that they expect the Red Cross to be contacted to assist, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation by the fire investigative unit and Milwaukee police.
