Flight for life called for 72-year-old Racine man injured during police chase and crash

RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Racine police say a 72-year-old man is critically injured after a 36-year-old suspect led police on a chase that ended in a crash on Sat. Apr. 19.

Officers initiated the pursuit around 6:00 p.m., which ended when the fleeing vehicle drove through a stop sign at Victory and Lathrop Avenue, and struck an uninvolved vehicle on Lathrop Ave. 

The operator of the third vehicle, the 72-year-old victim, was taken to Froedtert via Flight for Life.

The 36-year-old suspect was taken into custody and is being held at the Racine County jail. 

The Racine County Sheriff's Office and Wisconsin State Patrol as investigating the crash.
