WAUKESHA COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Waukesha County Park System celebrated their new Fox River Trail in Brookfield Wednesday, Aug. 30.
It's a three-mile trail between Pewaukee and Brookfield, running from a trailhead on Watertown Road through scenic wetlands and woodlands to Brookfield Road.
"We had a soft opening last fall. It's been open since then, and people have been all over it, using it like crazy just like we hoped," said Parks System Manager Steve Brunner.
From the first planning stages to Wednesday's ribbon-cutting, it's taken around 10 years to get this trail fully opened.
