A boost in temperatures despite the lack of sunshine
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- As the back-to-school season begins, parents are expected to spend around $600 per child on school supplies this year.
To help alleviate these costs, CBS 58's sister station Telemundo Wisconsin is partnering with Alverno College for the second consecutive year to host Backpack Day on Tuesday, Aug. 13, starting at 11 a.m.
Children between the ages of 5 and 11 will receive a free backpack filled with school supplies.
The event will take place outside Alverno College, and families are encouraged to arrive early as supplies are limited. Children must be present to receive the backpack.
Another event is scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 17, at UMOS in Milwaukee. The annual Back-to-School Fair will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., providing school supplies and community resources for students in first through eighth grade. Free children’s activities will also be available.
