MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Summerfest will open with country music icon Garth Brooks on Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater, festival officials announced Monday, Sept. 8.
Brooks is the best-selling solo artist in U.S. history, with 162 million albums certified by the RIAA. He is the only performer to earn nine Diamond Awards for albums selling more than 10 million copies each. Brooks has won seven CMA Entertainer of the Year awards, more than any other artist, and is a member of multiple halls of fame, including the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry.
Brooks’ most recent tours drew millions, including a three-and-a-half-year stadium run that averaged 95,000 people per show and concluded with five sold-out nights in Dublin. His 72-show Las Vegas residency ended earlier this year after selling nearly all available tickets.
"And that's what's so great about what we do at the American Family Insurance Amphitheater," said Jerrod Woods, senior director of marketing. "Like you said, seeing Garth Brooks in stadiums, there's not gonna be any experience like seeing him in such an incredible, intimate venue like the American Family Insurance Amphitheater. So, for the fans, it's gonna be something like they've never experienced before."
Garth Brooks hasn't played in Milwaukee in more than a decade.
Tickets go on sale Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. through Ticketmaster. Each ticket includes Summerfest admission.
