PITTSBURGH - The Brewers are near the end of their playoff rope, but their emotions are still running high.
Logan Schafer's ninth inning sac fly gave the Brewers a 1-0 win in Pittsburgh Saturday, keeping the team's slim playoff hopes alive. The Brewers trail the Pirates by 3.5 games with 7 to play.
Matt Garza and Ron Roenicke were ejected in the fifth inning after Garza hit Andrew McCutchen for the second time in the game. Both Garza and Roenicke argued the ejections were unwarranted; Garza hit McCutchen with a 1-2 pitch. After the game, Garza was adamant that he did not mean to hit the Pirates star hitter.
The teams wrap up their series Sunday at 12:35 in Pittsburgh.
