Gas prices in Wisconsin reach near $5 a gallon at some locations as statewide average continues to increase

According to AAA Wisconsin data, the current average for a gallon of regular gas is $4.45. That is up 36 cents from last week’s average.
At a BP on Plankinton Avenue in Milwaukee, regular gas was $5.19 on Saturday, September 19
“There’s some people out here barely getting by. They’re kinda spending their last just to make sure they even get around,” said Lisandro Rodriguez while filling up his tank at the downtown Milwaukee BP. “It’s just making it harder for people, so it’s not right.”
Further west at the Speedway off of Miller Park Way, gas was below the state average, but people were still feeling the impact of price increases and said they are changing their habits in order to try to save some money.
“I take less trips, way less trips than I usually do,” said David Grimes while getting gas at the Speedway.
Gas prices in our area have increased for days, and experts don’t see a correction anytime soon. Right now, supply is being hurt by the Iran war, Ukraine damaging Russian refineries, and a recent power outage at a refinery outside Chicago.
