RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Gifford School in Racine just wrapped up "Elf" over the holidays. Then, seventh and eighth graders in the theater program got straight to work memorizing their lines for "Beetlejuice Jr."

The first weekend of May, they’ll begin six shows. The show packs 20 songs and memorable characters into one show.

“'Day-O,' 'Jump the Line,' those songs are just very iconic classics,” said co-director, Brian Sweeny. “A lot of times you hear those songs you instantly think 'Beetlejuice.'”

While students have been practicing, they even got a visit from the actor who played Beetlejuice in the national touring production of the show, Andy Kober.

“He’s also the understudy for a number of the male roles on the Broadway production,” said Sweeny. “He was able to provide feedback for the kids and kind of build-up their confidence and give them some notes on what they improve on for our production.”

Tickets to the Mother’s Day show will include lunch from Brew City BBQ. Tickets can be found by clicking here.
