MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 15-year-old girl is in custody after she tried to set a Milwaukee Police squad car on fire Saturday night.
"I don’t understand who ever did this I don’t know how they could have set a squad car on fire," said Kimberly Toliver, neighbor.
The incident happened in area of N Long Island Drive and W Custer Avenue in Milwaukee’s north side.
According to the MPD, the officers were responding to a call at a nearby home. When they were inside the house, the suspect attempted to a light the squad car on fire. Neighbors saw smoke coming from the vehicle and called 911.
"I smelled the smoke coming through my window and that’s when I looked and saw the police," said Toliver.
The juvenile was apprehended and taken into custody. According to the Police report, the squad received minor damage to the rear wheel wells of the vehicle. No one was injured in the incident.
