MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Leaders in local health care sat down with Governor Tony Evers Monday, expressing their hopes for Evers' budget plan.
Gov. Evers said his intention is to lower the cost of health care and at the same time, expand the state's Badger Care program.
The group asked him to crack down on prescription price gouging, pay attention to equity and disparities in health care for minority communities, to better the options for post-partum mothers, for mental health care, and to do what he can to prevent federal cuts to Medicaid.
"So, we just need to make sure that our people in Washington DC understand the importance of Medicaid in general," Gov. Evers said. "And it's gonna be an all-out war to make sure that we get what we need from Washington DC."
In Wisconsin, about 1.2 million residents are enrolled in Medicaid.
