MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- 2025 marks the 10-year anniversary of the Supreme Court's decision to legalize same-sex marriage in all 50 states.
At noon Friday, May 30, Governor Tony Evers raised the Progress Pride Flag in honor of Pride Month.
This version of the flag includes additional stripes that represent LGBTQ individuals of color and the transgender community.
Gov. Evers reflected on the progress Wisconsin has made over the past decade and reemphasized a promise he made when running for office.
"I promised long ago that as governor, I would always fight to protect LGBTQ Wisconsinites with every tool and every power that I have," Gov. Evers said. "I will never stop keeping that promise. Wisconsin has always led the way in the fight for LGBT liberty and equality. We sure as heck will not turn back now."
The flag will fly over the east wing of the state Capitol throughout the month of June.
