MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A woman hit and killed after being hit by a Milwaukee Police Department squad car has been identified as 31-year-old Hayley Linville.

Near 20th and Comstock, Kathy Tyson walked through the alley where her niece was killed.

“She was a type of person that was liked and loved by everyone,” said Tyson. “She was like one of my other children.”

On Tuesday morning around 11 a.m., Milwaukee police say an officer was responding to a welfare check after bystanders reported a woman acting erratically.

Milwaukee police say the woman, now identified as Linville, was lying in the entrance of an alley when the officer struck her with his squad car. Linville was transported to a nearby hospital where she died.

“Yeah I’m a mess,” said Tyson. “Very, very, very much so. I can see if it was night, but this was 11 a.m. And it was a bright sunny day. So how could they not see her?”

Tyson says MPD squad cars often drive through the neighborhood at high speeds. The Waukesha Police Department is investigating this incident and told CBS 58 it is “not seeing speed as a factor.”

Waukesha police say an autopsy was completed this morning and the results are pending. Tyson says she just wants answers.

"How could you not see a grown adult laying here?” said Tyson.
