WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Governor Tony Evers is asking the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) to help assess the damage from July's severe storms. 

Those storms included an EF-3 tornado in the Menasha-Appleton area along with damaging winds, hail, and power outages. 

FEMA would help determine the extent of the damage and whether Wisconsin could qualify for federal disaster aid. The assessment would be a step toward submitting a formal disaster declaration to President Trump.

The request currently covers four counties: Forest, Outagamie, Vilas and Winnebago. 

The governor's office says additional counties could be added to the request after verifying pending county damage assessment information.
