Gov. Tony Evers announces appointment of Sen. Lena Taylor to Milwaukee County Circuit Court
MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Gov. Tony Evers has announced the appointment of Sen. Lena Taylor to the Milwaukee County Circuit Court, Branch 41, a position vacated by Judge Audrey Skwierawski.
Sen. Taylor announced her resignation early Friday, Jan. 26, in a press release. She noted, "Effective today, at 5 p.m., I am resigning my position as State Senator with the Wisconsin State Senate. I have been appointed, by Gov. Tony Evers, to fill a vacancy in Milwaukee County Circuit Court -- Branch 41."
Taylor's term, starting Tues., Jan. 30, will continue until July 31, 2025.
She has been a member of the Wisconsin State Legislature since 2003, initially representing the 18th Assembly District and, since 2005, the 4th Senate District. Her legislative career includes roles such as chair of the Senate Judiciary Committee and co-chair of the Joint Committee on Finance.
Before her political career, Taylor worked as a public defender in Milwaukee from 1993. In 1996, she opened a private practice in Milwaukee, dealing with a range of legal areas including criminal, business, and real estate law.
