Gov. Tony Evers proclaims Friday Brewers 'Won Our Way' Day in Wisconsin
Tony Evers MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) — Gov. Tony Evers has proclaimed Friday, Oct. 30, as Brewers "Won Our Way" Day in Wisconsin as the state celebrates the Milwaukee Brewers' first World Series championship.
The proclamation comes as the Brewers prepare for Friday's championship parade and rally in Milwaukee following a historic season and postseason run.
"It's a great day to be a Brewers fan and a great day to be a Wisconsinite — to say we're jazzed as hell about the Milwaukee Brewers winning their first-ever World Series Championship title is an understatement," Evers said. "What a series, and what a team."
Evers congratulated the Brewers, manager Pat Murphy and the team's coaching staff for what he called their "relentless determination" throughout the championship run.
"As a lifelong Brewers fan, like so many across our state, I have waited for this day for a long time, and I am damn excited and proud to be proclaiming tomorrow Brewers 'Won Our Way' Day in Wisconsin to celebrate our World Champion Milwaukee Brewers," Evers said. "For Ueck, for Milwaukee, and for Wisconsin, Go Brewers!"
The championship capped a record-setting season for Milwaukee.
The Brewers won a franchise-record 103 games during the regular season and captured their fourth consecutive National League Central title. Milwaukee also earned the No. 1 seed and home-field advantage throughout the National League playoffs.
The Brewers added 11 postseason victories, sweeping the National League Championship Series to reach the World Series for the first time in 44 years.
During the postseason, Milwaukee tied the Major League Baseball record for the longest winning streak in a single postseason with eight consecutive victories and tied the record for the most come-from-behind wins in one postseason.
Evers also pointed to the Brewers' long-term connection to Wisconsin.
In 2023, Evers signed bipartisan legislation providing public funding for renovations at American Family Field as part of an agreement designed to keep the Brewers in Milwaukee through 2050.
Friday's celebration begins with the Brewers' championship parade at 10 a.m. in downtown Milwaukee, followed by a rally and fan festival at Henry Maier Festival Park.
