Greenfield police chief denies allegations of misconduct, asks for time to gather evidence

CBS 58 GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Greenfield police chief is responding to the mayor's call for his removal.
Mayor Michael Neitzke has accused Chief Jay Johnson of serious misconduct.
In a new response Monday, Sept. 28, Johnson denied the allegations. He said he did not destroy personnel records or evidence. He also denied making an anonymous call to police in which the caller said in part, "Revenge is sweet."
Johnson is asking the Police and Fire Commission to give him 120 days to gather evidence before a formal hearing.
He's been on leave from the department for more than a year.
