Greenfield residents urged to monitor mail after thefts continue at post office mailbox
GREENFIELD, Wis. (CBS 58) - Residents who use a mailbox outside the Greenfield Post Office on Forest Home Avenue are being urged to closely monitor their mail after a series of thefts at the location.
A new sign has been posted on the collection box warning customers not to deposit mail there. Instead, customers are being directed to bring their mail inside the post office.
According to Greenfield police and the U.S. Postal Service (USPS), multiple measures have been implemented in an effort to prevent mail thefts at the location. Despite those efforts, incidents have continued over the past several months.
Investigators are now asking anyone who deposited mail in the collection box between last Saturday and Monday to closely monitor any items they mailed during that time.
Authorities said anyone who believes their mail has been compromised should contact their local police department.
The U.S. Postal Service and Greenfield police continue to investigate the thefts.
