MENOMONEE FALLS, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Despite Wednesday's snow, a groundbreaking was celebrated for the St. Jude Dream Home Showplace in Menomonee Falls.
It's a way for businesses and supporters from Milwaukee to come together and build a home, which will then be sold, with its proceeds going to help fight the battle against childhood cancer.
"When St. Jude's Children's Hospital opened in 1962, the childhood survival rate for cancer was 20%. Today it's 80%, and we don't want to stop until that number is 100%," said Eva Fryar, division president, Stepping Stone Homes.
It's expected for the homes to be ready by the end of summer.
The St. Jude Dream Home Showplace is an extension of the St. Jude Dream Home giveaway, which is one of the largest fundraising programs for St. Jude.
Net proceeds from the sale of the house benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
