MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A date is now set for groundbreaking for the new Milwaukee Public Museum.

The formal ceremony will take place next Tuesday, May 7, at 6th and McKinley, the site of the future home of the museum.

Mayor Cavalier Johnson and County Executive David Crowley will be there.

Fundraising continues for the $240 million project, scheduled for completion in 2027.

Earlier this week, we learned that Herb Kohl's Philanthropic Foundation was donating $2 million, with part of the money earmarked for teachers who would get free museum membership.
