Happy Fall Y'all! Temperatures start cool for the new season with isolated showers

Happy Fall Y'all! The new season is finally here. The autumnal equinox begins shortly after 7 PM Tuesday evening officially bringing in the astronomical beginning to the season. 

On this fall equinox day the total daylight is still just a little over 12 hours at 12 hours and nine minutes. The sunrise time is now well after 6:30 AM and the sunset time is getting close to 6:45 PM. 

During the fall months we see pretty rapidly cooling temperatures in southeast Wisconsin. The average high goes from a comfortable 71 today to a cold 35 by the last day of fall on December 20th. The average lows go from the mid 50s to the low 20s. The fall months do average some snow with over 9". Most of that snow falls in the month of December.

As we begin this fall season in 2026 we stay on the cooler side. Highs Tuesday will be about ten degrees colder than the average around 60. We stay below average through the start of the weekend with highs in the middle to upper 60s. 

Some showers are still possible to begin fall with some isolated showers here and there, especially during the morning hours. Some sprinkles may also be possible Wednesday and Thursday.
