Hartford volunteer fire lieutenant charged with child enticement, pornography possession

HARTFORD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A Hartford man has been arrested and charged with child enticement and multiple counts of possessing child pornography following an investigation by the West Bend Police Department.
According to officials, 37-year-old Aaron Moratz is a City of Hartford paid on-call volunteer Fire and EMS lieutenant.
According to a criminal complaint filed Wednesday, March 26, Moratz is charged in Washington County Circuit Court with one count of attempted sexual exploitation of a child and 30 counts of possession of child pornography.
Authorities reportedly began their investigation Sunday, March 23, after Hartford Fire/EMS Chief Tony Burgard reportedly received information about an inappropriate message sent by a paid on-call lieutenant to a juvenile. Hartford police referred the case to West Bend Police due to a conflict of interest.
The complaint says that Moratz allegedly sent a message to the Instagram account of a 14-year-old boy and later confirmed ownership of the social media account used to send the message.
Moratz is on administrative leave from Hartford Fire/EMS.
