Heat and Severe Storms Possible for Saturday

Saturday is all about weather headlines!  A heat index is in effect from Noon until 8 pm because it will feel more like 100 to 105!  That heat and humidity will play into the shower and storm potential, and possibly some severe weather.

A complex of storms will make a run at our area between 3 am and 8 am Saturday.  If those storms can hold together they could produce gusty winds and small hail.  Morning storms could impact temperatures and the severe weather threat for the afternoon.

If those storms move out quickly we should heat right back up.  Dew points will remain in the lower 70s, and that's an amazing amount of moisture to be used for storms.  An outflow boundary of some sort will serve as the focus for additional storms by the late afternoon and early evening.  There's going to be a decent cap, or warm air aloft, so the storms will be highly conditional.

If those storms can develop by the late afternoon and early evening, they could produce damaging winds, hail, and an isolated tornado threat.  We will be watching them closely for you on Saturday.
