Historic South Shore trains to be featured at East Troy Railroad's 'Chicago Day' 🚂

EAST TROY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- "Chicago Day" at the East Troy Railroad Museum is set to offer visitors an authentic experience on the historic South Shore train cars on Saturday, July 15.

National Park Service Rangers and volunteers from the Indiana Dunes National Park will co-host the event, detailing the 115-year legacy of the Chicago South Shore and South Bend Railroad.

The event will feature several operational South Shore cars, with hourly departures from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Attendees can learn the dynamics of interurban travel predating affordable automobile travel.

Additionally, younger attendees can participate in the Junior Ranger program to earn awards.

The museum, operating since 1972, stands at 2002 Church Street in East Troy. It boasts a 7.5-mile track in continuous use for over 115 years. Regular rides are available each weekend from the East Troy depot to Indianhead Park in Mukwonago.
