HARTLAND, WIS. (CBS 58) -- The high school football season kicks off Friday with one of the best games of the year. Defending state champion Marquette University High School against an Arrowhead team that’s beaten them three years in a row and features one of the best players in the state.

Vance Holtz is a name to know this high school football season. Actually, he might be THE name to know. Wisconsin’s top ranked quarterback is poised for a special senior season.

“I just want to feel like I didn't leave anything on the field senior year. I like to make things happen. Everyone talks about state championship, state championship, but how are you going to get to the state championship if you're not doing the little things every day," said Vance.

“He just throws dots. Sometimes great coverage gets beat by a perfect ball," said Brendan Foley, Junior Captain.

The 6-2 QB has all the tools and now that he’s already committed to play D1 football at Western Michigan the pressure is off, he can spend his senior season focused strictly on the field.

“Yeah, no that's definitely a big relief. I'm happy where I landed. I know I don't have that pressure on me to make highlight tapes and all that. I can focus on being me," said Vance.

“I've had six All-State quarterbacks in my career and not one of them has gotten a college scholarship offer. So, for him to be the first one, that's an incredibly big deal. I just think this is his year to let everyone else see it the way that we do," said Matt Harris, Arrowhead Head Coach.

Vance and the Warhawks will be tested right away with their opener against top ranked Marquette University High School.

“It's a big challenge and it's a good opportunity for this team to prove ourselves and show the whole state what Arrowhead football is this year," said Foley.

“We have 10 returning starters on offense, they already know what they're doing so we get to put so much more in, and we get to be that much more crisp in what we do because they've all done it for a few years now," said Harris.
