Hundreds shop at Shorewood's first ever wintertime Farmers Market
SHOREWOOD, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Farmers Markets usually make you think of sunshine and summertime, but in Shorewood they are making it an all year-round event!
The Shorewood Farmers Market had its first ever winter market Sunday, Jan. 4. Hundreds of people shopped from more than 25 local vendors at the Atrium on Capitol.
Organizer Arthur Ircink told CBS 58 they want to bring the momentum form the summer Farmers Market into the colder months.
"In the summertime, we have a lot of farmers, a lot of fresh produce," said Ircink. "In the wintertime, we have a lot more prepared food here. We have different bakeries, we have breads, we have pickled foods."
Ircink told us that some vendors even sold out, calling the winter Farmers Market a success!
If you missed this one, there will be more coming!
Every Sunday for the next eight weeks from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Atrium in Shorewood.
No date has been set for the opening of the summer Farmers Market yet.
The summertime one happens at Estrabrook Park from June to October.
